Two charged with Columbia assault after man hits head on concrete
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A man was treated for a life-threatening brain bleed and two people were charged with first-degree assault after an altercation Friday in northwest Columbia.
Police arrested Felicia L. Hay, 33, and Alexander A. Aklan, 28, both of Columbia, after the incident on Primrose Drive. Hay is charged with first-degree assault and Aklan is charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action, drug trafficking and unlawful use of a weapon.
Hays and Aklan have hearings set for 1 p.m. Monday.
They're accused of assaulting a man, with Aklan knocking him to the ground by pistol-whipping him, causing the victim to hit his head and be rushed to a hospital with a brain bleed, according to court documents. Hay kicked the victim, the statement says.
The man's condition was unknown Monday.
Witnesses identified Hay and Aklan as the assailants, police say. Police also obtained video of the incident. The Columbia Police Department says the two were arrested during a traffic stop Friday.
Hay told police she had met up with the victim to buy methamphetamine and kicked him because he fondled her, the statement says.
Aklan admitted to getting into the fight and told interrogators that he had a handgun on him but said he didn't hit the victim hard, according to the statement. Police found a loaded Glock handgun with an extended magazine and fentanyl on Aklan during a search, the statement says.
Hay and Aklan remained in the Boone County Jail without bond Monday.
