A man who was accused of helping another man, who was accused of murder, escape police in November 2023 has pleaded guilty to a pair of felonies.

Alex Glay, 26, of Columbia, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to hindering a felony prosecution and resisting arrest. He was sentenced to four years in prison and was given credit for time served. That sentence is in addition to a 10-year sentence he is currently serving for delivery of a controlled substance, court records show. He pleaded guilty to that charge in 2020.

Glay was accused of helping Ja'Shaun Barney try to escape police on Nov. 2, 2023. Barney has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Deshon Joseph Houston, 33, who was killed following a shooting outside of a home on Dove Drive on June 26, 2023. Barney is also charged with armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon and first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle.

Police chased a vehicle Glay drove and were able to stop it with spike strips on Interstate 70 near Creasy Springs Road and Business Loop 70, court documents in previous reporting say. Glay allegedly acknowledged that he knew Barney was charged with murder, court documents say.

Barney is being held at the Boone County Jail without bond. A hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6. He is one of several people charged with murder in the case.

Bryton Allen, 21, pleaded guilty in June to second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison. He was also sentenced to four years in prison on Nov. 27, 2023, in another case. He pleaded guilty to resisting arrest in 2021 and was initially sentenced to probation.

Jajuan Crocket, 21, was charged with first-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action, first-degree vehicle tampering, accessory to stealing a gun, stealing $750 or more and tampering with evidence.

A hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10. He is being held at South Central Correctional Center, according to Missouri Department of Corrections records.

Crockett's probation was revoked in another case and he was sentenced to six years in prison on Dec. 29, 2023. He pleaded guilty in 2021 to drug possession and was initially sentenced to probation. In another case, he pleaded guilty to stealing and was sentenced to probation. His probation was revoked in November 2023 and he was sentenced to four years

They are being held at the Boone County Jail without bond. Hearings for all three men are scheduled for Monday, Dec. 2
