A Cass County man was charged with six felonies in Phelps County after he allegedly hit a school bus with a stolen truck and camper during a chase with law enforcement on Tuesday.

Joshua Ewing, 24, of Strasburg, was charged with aggravated fleeing, armed criminal action, second-degree drug trafficking, delivering of a controlled substance, illegal gun possession, first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle and misdemeanor tampering with property. A no-bond warrant was issued.

His passenger, Alicia Ealey, 26, of Kansas City, was charged with second-degree drug trafficking, delivery of a controlled substance and misdemeanor tampering with property. A warrant was issued and a $150,000 bond was set.

Court dates for both people have not been set.

According to the probable cause statement, a deputy was heading southbound on Highway 65 when they saw a truck speeding 86 miles per hour while it was pulling a camper. Ewing eventually drove into town and hit a school bus while going 72 mph, the statement says. A bus driver was brought to Bothwell Hospital.

Ewing tried driving the truck through a muddy field, but it got stuck, the statement says. Ewing ran out of the vehicle, but was eventually arrested. Ealey was also arrested.

Law enforcement found a loaded gun, knife, $991 and more than 17 grams of meth in the truck, the statement says. Ealey allegedly told deputies that Ewing threw her a gun so he wasn’t in possession of it, the statement says. She also allegedly said most of the drugs belonged to Ewing.

Ewing allegedly told law enforcement that the gun and drugs belonged to Ealey and that she threatened to shoot him, the statement says.
