A Sunrise Beach man who was accused of driving a school bus while he was drunk is facing more than two dozen more charges.

Brett Emehiser was charged with 43 counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child and one count of misdemeanor driving while intoxicated. The amended complaint was filed on Monday. He is not listed on the Camden County Jail roster.

He was previously charged with just 20 counts of endangering the welfare of a child. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14.

Emheiser is accused of drunkenly driving a school bus with at least 20 students younger than 17 years old in September.

Court documents in previous reporting say witnesses saw the bus swerving and almost it other vehicles. The bus was pulled over on the side of a road by the time a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper got to the scene, court documents say.

Emehiser failed a field sobriety test and had a blood alcohol content of 0.18, well above the legal limit of 0.08, the probable cause statement says.
