Columbia man accused of stabbing woman, charged with first-degree domestic assault
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Columbia man was charged with three felonies after he allegedly stabbed a woman on Monday.
Steven Ray Mings was charged with first-degree domestic assault, armed criminal action and second-degree domestic assault. Mings was not listed on the Boone County Jail roster on Tuesday afternoon. A warrant was ordered and no bond was set.
According to the probable cause statement, police were called at 12:44 p.m. to a BreakTime in the 3400 block of Rock Quarry Road. A woman was stabbed and was bleeding, the statement says. Police saw the bleeding woman in front of the BreakTime and provided aid, the statement says.
The woman said that Mings stabbed her at her residence, the statement says. The victim was allegedly seen on video walking to the BreakTime, the statement says.
Mings allegedly called Boone County Joint Communications earlier in the day and requested a ride to the courthouse “due to being stabbed” by someone “a few days ago,” the statement says. Court documents say Mings routinely calls with similar requests and that police have responded to other domestic disturbances at his residence.
Mings was arrested and police found a broken black steak knife in a bedroom, as well as a “bloody multi-tool knife,” the statement says. Droplets of blood were found near that knife and books in the same room, the statement says.
A second probable cause statement was filed, which described another domestic assault by Mings to the victim. Mings allegedly stepped on the victim’s throat on Dec. 15, 2021, after the victim wouldn’t allow him to take money from her pockets, the statement says.
