Woman who caused Moberly lockdown last year sentenced to probation
MOBERLY, Mo. (KMIZ)
A woman who caused a lockdown last year in Moberly was sentenced to probation on Wednesday.
Jeanette Tolson, 45, of Huntsville, pleaded guilty on Aug. 14 to two counts of unlawful use of a weapon. She was sentenced to five years of unsupervised probation on Wednesday, along with a four-year suspended sentence.
She was previously charged with armed criminal action and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon.
Multiple people saw Tolson after she shot a gun, according to court documents in previous reporting. Tolson allegedly told a witness in an empty lot north of Thompson Street that she shot at her husband after accusing him of infidelity, court documents say. She was later seen with a gun on West Rollins Street by another witness.
Photos of Tolson were posted to social media during the several-hour search and Tolson was identified to police by a family member, the probable cause statement says.
After Tolson was arrested, she allegedly said, “I have every right to shoot him for what he’s done to me,” among other similar statements, the probable cause statement says.
Police allegedly informed Tolson that the man she was looking for was not present at the address she shot at, but she argued he was, according to the statement.
The gunshots led police to warn residents in part of the city to stay inside and lock their doors.
"All residents in this area are advised to stay inside their residences and lock their doors... If the suspect is observed do not approach and contact the Moberly Police Department immediately," police said in social media posts.
Several buildings including Moberly schools, the Moberly Library, Boone Health Clinic were locked down during the search. Moberly Area Community College referred to being on a “soft lockdown,” previous reporting states.
