MGN

MARIES COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Meta, Missouri, woman was charged with three child sex crimes on Thursday in Maries County.

Brenda Bax was charged with use of a child in a sexual performance and two counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child involving sexual conduct. Court records indicate a warrant was served on Friday and she is being held without bond. An initial court appearance is scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15.

According to the probable cause statement, detectives received a phone call on Sept. 19 about a youth being abused. A juvenile witness allegedly told an adult that they saw the victim engaged in intercourse with a man, the statement says. The statement says detectives learned of a sexual assault that occurred in March 2023. Court documents also give a timeline of March 1, 2024-Sept. 15, 2024 for the assaults.

One of the youth reported seeing the victim with a man in a bedroom and reported it to Bax, the statement says. Bax allegedly knew the man was an adult, told them to stop but took no additional action.

Court documents claim that Bax watched the assaults occur on two separate occasions.
