Columbia man charged after allegedly pointing gun at, assaulting woman
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Columbia man was charged on Wednesday after authorities claim he assaulted a woman and pointed a gun at her on Sept. 3.
Dre'shawn Markell Marshall, 30, was charged with second-degree domestic assault, third-degree domestic assault, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, one count of first-degree kidnapping, armed criminal action and illegal gun possession.
Jail records indicate that he was booked into the Boone County Jail at 10:41 p.m. Tuesday. Court records show that he was moved to the Department of Corrections. An initial court appearance is scheduled for 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 1 by video from the DOC.
According to the probable cause statement, a woman called police after she was stabbed. Columbia police arrived to a residence and saw the victim bleeding while holding a child, the statement says.
Police found blood all over the apartment, court documents say. The victim allegedly said that she told Marshall she was going to take a nap and he started an argument, court documents say. Marshall then allegedly assaulted the victim before pulling out a gun, the statement says.
The victim ran away to the kitchen to grab a knife to defend herself, but Marshall took the knife and cut her, the statement says. He then pointed the gun at her again and threatened to shoot, the statement says.
Court records show Marshall pleaded guilty in April to drug possession and misdemeanor driving while revoked. He was sentenced to four years in prison and was given credit for time served.
