Callaway County man charged with first-degree domestic assault
FULTON, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Steedman man was charged with two felonies after he was accused of seriously injuring a woman during an assault on Tuesday.
Nathan Cole Riley, 37, was charged with first-degree domestic assault and resisting arrest. He is being held at the Callaway County Jail without bond. An initial court appearance was held on Wednesday morning and his next court date was not announced.
According to the probable cause statement, someone driving down a road near Fulton called law enforcement after seeing a woman bleeding while walking down the roadway. Deputies found the victim, who had difficulty speaking and was unable to write down information, the statement says. Court documents say the victim had a broken jaw, a dislocated shoulder and other injuries.
A person described as a witness in court documents allegedly told deputies that the victim told them that they were assaulted by Riley, the statement says. The witness did not see the assault, but helped the victim with her injuries at a residence while deputies arrived, the statement says.
Riley allegedly ran into a wooded area before deputies showed up, and allegedly yelled that he messed up, court documents say. Deputies found Riley in the woods and he allegedly tried to prevent deputies from putting handcuffs on him, the statement says.
