A man who was charged with two counts of first-degree sex abuse earlier this year was booked into the Boone County Jail on Sunday evening.

Jaycob Booth, 40, was charged in February. He was booked into the Boone County Jail at 6:04 p.m. Sunday, according to jail records. He is being held on a $30,000 bond. An initial court appearance was held on Monday. Court records say he’s from St. Francois County near St. Louis, while jail records say his address is in Columbia.

According to the probable cause statement, Columbia police investigated a possible sexual assault by interviewing a child victim on May 10, 2022. The victim allegedly told police that they were repeatedly assaulted by Booth between Feb. 28-May 10, 2022.

Booth had also allegedly sent the victim sexual text messages, court documents say.

The statement says that Booth has multiple connections to other Missouri cities, including Springfield and Hannibal.
