A Jefferson City man who was accused of stealing more than a dozen guns was charged after he allegedly led Cole County deputies on a chase on Sunday morning.
Jason Moore was charged with resisting arrest by fleeing and reckless driving, a misdemeanor. A warrant was issued for his arrest on Monday and no bond was set. He was not listed on the Cole County Jail roster on Tuesday afternoon. An arraignment was set for Tuesday morning and a withdrawal of an attorney was filed.
According to the probable cause statement, a Cole County Sheriff’s deputy saw Moore driving near Truman Boulevard and Country Club Drive in Jefferson City. The chase began at 10:13 a.m. Sunday and went on for about a half hour before deputies ended the chase, the statement says. The chase went back and forth between Jefferson City and Callaway County, with Moore driving around 100 miles per hour while driving in the wrong lane several times in Callaway County, the statement says.
Deputies ended the chase at 10:40 a.m., the statement says. The Impala was eventually found abandoned on Lincoln University’s campus and Moore’s cellphone was inside the car, the statement says.
