Man accused of stealing bike from student in Hickman High School parking lot
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Columbia man was charged after he allegedly took a bicycle from a student on Wednesday in a parking lot at Hickman High School.
Benjamin Bowman, 48, was charged with stealing, drug possession and misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held at the Boone County Jail on a $21,000 bond. A court date has not been set.
According to the probable cause statement, school staff members told police that a student had their bicycle stolen by an adult in the western parking lot of the school. The student allegedly told police that they were riding the bike to school when a man claimed they were on his bicycle and he took it from them, the statement says.
Bowman allegedly then rode the bicycle south on Providence Road, the statement says. No injuries were reported, court documents say.
Court documents say police watched video of the incident and multiple officers were able to identify Bowman. Police found Bowman with the bike at Douglass Park, court documents say. Bowman allegedly had a bag containing methamphetamine and a glass pipe with meth residue, the statement says.
