Fulton man charged with sodomy, making terroristic threat
FULTON, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Fulton man was charged with two felonies after he allegedly sexually assaulted a woman and left a suspicious package on their front porch.
Thomas Norton Jr., 40, was charged with second-degree sodomy and second-degree making a terroristic threat. He is being held without bond at the Callaway County Jail. An initial court appearance is scheduled for noon Tuesday.
According to the probable cause statement, Fulton police were called to a residence at 1:53 p.m. Friday for a report of a suspicious package. The victim allegedly said Norton dropped it off on her front porch.
The victim allegedly said that Norton sexually assaulted them the night before and that he returned with the package Friday, the statement says. The box allegedly had writing on it that stated it involved a “prize,” the statement says. The victim said Norton would commonly say the phrase “play stupid games, win stupid prizes” and that he previously told the victim he would harm her with a bomb, court documents say.
Law enforcement removed the contents of the box, which apparently included a clear glass bottle with a yellow liquid that was taped to another clear glass container and a scrub brush, court documents say.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol Bomb Squad responded and determined it was not a bomb, the statement says.
Norton was eventually arrested and allegedly told law enforcement that he was returning items the victim previously gave him, according to court documents.
