Man accused in east Jefferson City shooting gets additional charges

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Jefferson City man who was charged in a June shooting that left a 19-year-old in critical condition had additional charges filed on Friday.

Adonius Boykin is now charged with two counts of first-degree assault, three counts of armed criminal action and three counts of unlawful use of a weapon, court documents say. He was previously charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.

Boykin is being held at the Cole County Jail without bond. His next court date has not been announced.

According to previous reporting, the victim in the shooting found by police on June 30 at a residence in the 700 block of Ewing Drive with at least three gunshot wounds. The victim and witnesses allegedly identified Boykin as the shooter.

Police allegedly found evidence that shots were fired from inside the house and found a shell casing near where the victim was standing when he was shot, court documents say.
