Man charged with domestic assault after allegedly attacking mother with cane
MILLER COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Rocky Mount man was charged with two felonies after he allegedly attacked his mother with a cane on Tuesday.
Rakan Penfield was charged with first-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action. An arraignment was held on Thursday and Penfield was listed in court filings as being in custody, though his name did not appear on the Miller County Jail’s online roster on Thursday afternoon. A warrant was issued and a $200,000 bond was set. A case review is scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday.
The probable cause statement says that law enforcement spoke with the victim at Lake Regional Hospital and that her injuries appeared to be serious.
Penfield allegedly became angry with his mother because she did not complete her “chores,” the statement says. He then threw a metallic cane at her eye, court documents say. He then allegedly took the victim’s phone so she could not call 911, the statement says.
Law enforcement executed a search warrant at the residence and found the victim’s phone and the cane, the statement says.
