Man charged after allegedly dropping China cabinet on woman during assault
MILLER COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Tuscumbia man was charged with first-degree domestic assault on Thursday after he allegedly attacked a woman on Tuesday.
Phillip Benedict had an arraignment hearing on Thursday. Court filings state that he was in custody at the hearing, but his name did not appear on the Miller County Jail’s online roster on Thursday afternoon. A warrant was issued and no bond was set.
According to the probable cause statement Benedict allegedly hit the woman in her face before dropping a China cabinet on her. Court documents say the woman suffered a brain bleed from the attack and was brought to a Columbia hospital after being checked out at Lake Regional Medical Center.
Deputies executed a search warrant at the residence and saw the broken cabinet, as well as several pieces of broken vases in the living room, the statement says. Blood was also allegedly seen by deputies throughout the living room and on a washcloth in the bathroom, the statement says.
