Murder charge dropped for man accused in Fulton shooting
FULTON, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Fulton Police Department confirmed on its social media on Monday evening that one of the men accused in the shooting death of a teenager on Kathy Street will see his charges dropped.
Taeon Logan, 23, was charged last week with accessory to first-degree murder in the July 16 shooting death of Jakiem O. Braggs, 19, of Fulton, in the 1200 block of Kathy Street.
“The following day, a concerned citizen, who had not been present at the scene during the shooting, provided to investigators credible details about the shooting that had not been released to the public. The information reported by the citizen implicated Taeon Logan in the shooting. Logan was later arrested and charged,” police wrote on Facebook.
“As the investigation continued, it was determined that Logan was not in fact involved in the shooting, despite being present at the scene at the time. Investigators kept Logan and his family updated as information was received clearing Logan of wrongdoing. FPD, with the assistance of the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office, stayed in close communication with Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney Ben Miller, and charges against Logan were dismissed. Logan was released from custody on Friday.”
Quirara Walton, 19, was charged with first-degree murder and is being held at the Callaway County Jail without bond. A bond hearing is set for 8:30 a.m. Friday. Emmanuel Brown, 20, was charged with accessory to first-degree murder and is being held at the jail without bond. He also has a hearing scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Friday. Police say a juvenile allegedly involved is in custody with juvenile authorities.
Another person accused, Mitchell Henderson Jr., turned himself in on Monday, according to the post from police. Henderson was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder and illegal gun possession, but charges have yet to appear on Casenet. He is being held at the Callaway County Jail without bond.
Court documents say Walton "lured" Braggs to the street after sending messages to him on the social media application SnapChat. Logan, Brown and a minor were all allegedly waiting behind a car to shoot Braggs when he got to the scene, court documents claim.
