Juvenile hurt in early morning Columbia shooting

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

No one is in custody after a shooting early Thursday morning on Clark Lane, according to the Columbia Police Department.

Police responded to the 5000 block of Clark Lane just before 2 a.m. Thursday for reports of shots fired and when they arrived, they found one person shot. CPD said in a news release Thursday that a juvenile had been shot but the injuries were not life-threatening.

Columbia Police Department spokeswoman Jenny Hopper said the person shot is a juvenile, and they were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Directly across the street at Valley Creek Lane ABC 17 News crews saw at least 26 evidence markers. CPD believes the scene on Clark Lane and on Valley Creek Lane are connected.

ABC 17 News crews arrived on scene around 2:30 a.m. and saw four Columbia police vehicles and crime scene tape up blocking the area.

Boone County emergency dispatchers sent out a public alert just after 2 a.m about a police incident and said Clark Lane to the entrance of The Links to East St. Charles Road was closed.

Just after 3:30 a.m. BCJC sent out an alert that the road was back open.
