Columbia man accused of stabbing woman booked into Boone County Jail
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Columbia man who was accused of stabbing a woman on Wednesday morning was booked into the Boone County Jail on Friday.
Michael Anthony James, 55, was charged on Thursday with first-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action. He was arrested on Wednesday and was booked into the jail at 12:03 p.m. Friday. He is being held without bond. A court date has not been set.
According to the probable cause statement, James had cut the woman’s throat with a knife and she was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. Court documents say the victim needed emergency surgery.
Police were called to the 1100 block of West Broadway around 6 a.m. and saw the victim with “copious amounts of blood” on their clothes and a cut on their neck, the statement says. James was found in the 1400 block of Gary Street and tried to run from police when they told him to stop, the statement says.
Court records show his probation was revoked in a DWI case from 2020. He pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated on March 21, 2022, and was sentenced to four years of supervised probation, along with a five-year suspended sentence.
James’ probation was revoked on Feb. 8 for violating its terms and conditions, court records say.
