Man arrested, allegedly threatened to kill patrons at Clark Lane restaurant
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly threatened to kill everyone inside of a restaurant in the 3200 block of Clark Lane, according to court documents.
Daverius Jones, 22, of Independence, was charged on Wednesday with unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action and three counts of misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child. He is being held at the Boone County Jail on a $20,000 bond. An initial court appearance was held Wednesday. Jail records indicate he has a hearing scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8.
According to the probable cause statement, Jones allegedly walked into the business and threatened to kill everyone in the business while he was carrying two of the three children with him. Security footage allegedly showed a gun poke out of Jones’ sweatshirt, the statement says.
Jones then walked outside to put the children in a van, the statement says. He then allegedly walked back to the restaurant and tried to open a door, but it would not open, the statement says.
Security footage allegedly then showed Jones pointing a gun at the restaurant, the statement says. Multiple witnesses also told police they saw Jones point the gun at the restaurant, the statement says.
Police found Jones in the driver seat of the van with a loaded gun on the floor of the vehicle, the statement says. Jones had also allegedly told police that he had another gun in his pocket, court documents say.
