Columbia man faces child porn charges
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Columbia man was charged on Tuesday with charges relating to child pornography.
Christopher Oliver, 45, was charged with first-degree promoting child pornography and possessing child pornography. An initial court appearance was held on Wednesday. He is being held at the Boone County Jail without bond.
According to the probable cause statement, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office Cyber Crimes Task Force received a Cyber Tip on Nov. 9 from an online reporting system that stated child porn was being stored to an online platform, along with an email address and IP address.
More data was obtained by law enforcement on Jan. 31 and a search warrant was issued, the statement says. The account that had child porn allegedly included photos of Oliver “that appeared to be self-produced,” the statement says.
A search warrant was executed on Tuesday at Oliver’s residence and he allegedly admitted to owning the email address, as well as sending and receiving child porn, court documents say.
