Two charged in Callaway County chase
FULTON, Mo. (KMIZ)
Two people were arrested and charged after leading deputies and troopers on a chase Sunday in Callaway County.
Deontral Weston, 20, was charged with resisting arrest and first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle. He is being held at the Callaway County Jail on a $65,000 bond.
Janie Oglesby, 19, was charged with three misdemeanors: Second-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and first-degree trespassing. She is being held at the Callaway County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
Her mugshot is not being published because she is accused of misdemeanors, not felonies.
According to the probable cause statement, a chase began in Boone County after Boone County Sheriff’s deputies were following a stolen car from Columbia. The chase started on Interstate 70 and the stolen Dodge Charger was going 120 miles per hour while it was heading east to Callaway County, according to court documents.
The Dodge got off Interstate 70 at mile marker 144, went north on Route M and deputies had to initially end the chase, the statement says. A Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper apparently saw the vehicle heading westbound on Highway 54 near Auxvasse and eventually saw it pass North Callaway High School “at a high rate of speed,” the statement says.
The Dodge apparently got off of Highway 54 in New Bloomfield and started driving on Route J before stopping near a field, court documents say. Both people got out of the vehicle and ran, the statement says.
Oglesby was found at a nearby residence, she was given order by law enforcement to get out of the home and was arrested after she walked out, court documents say.
Court documents say K-9s were used to track the driver, Weston, near County Road 363 and Route Y. Weston was eventually arrested about a mile-and-a-half away from the vehicle, court documents say.
