Juveniles suspected in Mexico vehicle theft

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Police in Mexico, Missouri, say they detained two juveniles for vehicle theft and a string of vehicle break-ins over the weekend.

Police were called for the vehicle theft at about 5 a.m. Saturday in the 400 block of Bourne Street. The victim told police the vehicle had been stolen sometime after 7 p.m. Friday, according to a Mexico Department of Public Safety news release.

Later Saturday morning police received reports of four vehicles that had been broken into and rummaged through in east Mexico, the release says. Investigators found the stolen vehicle and most of the stolen property and detained two juveniles before releasing them to their guardians, police say.

The case will be forwarded to juvenile court.
