COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Boone County prosecutors have charged a Columbia man who is accused of shooting a man multiple times on Thursday night on Madison Street.
Perry Dean Bradshaw, 38, was charged on Friday with first-degree assault and armed criminal action. He is being held at the Boone County Jail without bond. Bradshaw appeared in court on Friday by video from the jail. A bond hearing is set for 1 p.m. Thursday, July 11 and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 23.
Court documents state police gathered video evidence showing a man identified as Bradshaw fighting with another man over money. Police in the probable cause statement say the video shows Bradshaw shooting the victim three times before being picked up and leaving the scene.
Police said they talked with a woman on Madison Street in a car matching the one Bradshaw left in, according to court documents. Police said the witness said she got a phone call from Bradshaw asking him to be picked up from Madison Street and she dropped him off near 800 North Sixth Street.
Neighbors told ABC 17 News at the scene that they heard two people arguing before hearing three "pops."
A video was submitted to ABC 17 News that showed the victim sitting on the front step of a home on Madison Street. He appears to yell at someone offscreen. A man, who is presumed to be Bradshaw, rides a bicycle to the yard and the two can be heard arguing over money. Bradshaw can be heard demanding money from the victim.
Bradshaw at one point makes a phone call and can be heard saying, "Hey, pull up so I can go to St. Louis." Bradshaw and the victim are are then seen walking to the driveway of the home and continue arguing. The video then shows Bradshaw pull out a gun and fire three shots at the victim.
A grey car then pulls up to the residence and Bradshaw gets into the car before it drives away, the video shows. The video then shows the victim walk back to the house with blood on his shirt.
ABC 17 News later witnessed police and SWAT Team members outside of a home on Sixth Street and entered the residence with shields. Several members walked out of the home, but did not appear to have anyone in custody.
Court documents state police arrested Bradshaw during a traffic stop at an unknown time later.
The Columbia Police Department wrote in a press release that a dog owned by the victim's roommate died. Police say it ran from the home and was found by police.
"The dog was placed in an air-conditioned patrol car to keep the dog safe until it could be reunited with the owner. The dog was checked on as the investigation progressed, however, it was found deceased approximately two hours after being placed in the vehicle," the release says.
