COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Madison Street in Columbia was closed off on Thursday evening by Columbia police after shots were fired by one person.
Shots were fired at 7:15 p.m. in the 900 block of Madison Street, according to Columbia Police Department spokesman Brian McNeill. The scene was cleared and the street was reopened by 10:15 p.m.
McNeill said there is one suspect who is not in custody, but claimed there is no danger to the public.
A victim with gunshot wounds was brought to an area hospital, McNeill said. Victim information and the status of their injuries was not given. McNeill couldn't confirm if the victim's injuries were life-threatening. Police later wrote on social media that the victim is a man and that he had serious injuries.

Crime scene tape was around a residence in the area and over the street. At least 10 Columbia Police Department patrol vehicles were seen. ABC 17 News reporters saw police extend the area that was taped off twice.
