Brunswick man charged with child molestation

MGN

CHARITON COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Brunswick man was charged in Chariton County with several child sex crimes on Thursday.

Mikel Deal was charged with three counts of third-degree child molestation of a child younger than 14 years old and three counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child. A warrant was issued on Thursday and a $100,000 bond was set. A court date has not been scheduled.

According to the probable cause statement, two child victims were able to describe several assaults to law enforcement. The statement says after a person described as a witness learned of the allegations on March 19, Deal tried to contact one of the victims with the smartphone application Life360.

One of the victims allegedly told police that Deal would not assault them if the witness was present.
