Crawford County man accused of sexually assaulting child in Phelps County
PHELPS COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Cuba, Missouri, man was charged with two felonies after he was accused of sexually assaulting a child in Phelps County.
Shane Mullins, 29, was charged with two counts of child enticement of an actor who is 21 years old and a child younger than 15 years old. He is being held at the Phelps County Jail without bond. A hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Thursday.
According to the probable cause statement, law enforcement was called on May 29 for a report of a possible sexual assault. A 17-year-old girl was brought to an area hospital “because she was extremely intoxicated,” the statement says. The girl’s boyfriend had found the girl with Mullins in an undressed state at the Audubon Trail and was visibly intoxicated, the statement says. The girl allegedly refused a sexual assault exam.
However, during the investigation, a sibling of the victim who was younger than 15 years old had allegedly told law enforcement that they were inappropriately touched by Mullins on two occasions, according to court documents.
The victim had described both assaults to law enforcement and said Mullins had given her alcohol each time, the statement says. The assaults allegedly occurred in early May, the statement says.
The probable cause statement says that Mullins is “currently a suspect in more than one case in this county involving minor children.”
