Man accused of pouring boiling water on woman faces more felony charges
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Jefferson City man who was accused of pouring boiling water on a woman is facing an additional eight felony charges.
James Lamore Glass, 29, was charged on Monday with seven counts of tampering with a witness in a felony prosecution and one count of first-degree harassment. He was charged in May with first-degree domestic assault, first-degree sodomy, first-degree kidnapping and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.
Additionally, he was charged in another case involving the same victim with second-degree domestic assault, first-degree harassment and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.
Glass is in the custody of the Missouri Department of Corrections and is being held at the Fulton Diagnostic Center, according to DOC records. He was originally sentenced to probation on Aug. 28, 2023, after pleading guilty to second-degree attempted burglary, first-degree property damage and escaping from custody, a misdemeanor.
A hearing for multiple cases was set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Cole County Circuit Court.
A probation violation was filed on May 6 and he was sentenced to five years in the DOC.
According to the probable cause statement filed on Monday, while Glass was being held at the Cole County Jail in late April and early May, the victim in multiple cases was contacted by multiple people through text message that allegedly told her not to cooperate with the prosecution.
Multiple people who texted the victim were described as girlfriends of Glass’ cellmates at the Cole County Jail. A phone call between one of the women and one of the cellmates was recorded on the jail’s phone system, according to court documents. The cellmate allegedly told the woman what to tell the victim over the phone, court documents say.
