FULTON, Mo. (KMIZ)
Two people from Indiana who were arrested following a chase with law enforcement on Monday that ended with a crash on Bluff Street in Fulton were charged with felonies on Tuesday.
Christopher Voiles, 46, of Kokomo, Indiana, was charged with interfering with an arrest for a felony, resisting arrest by fleeing, leaving the scene of an accident and three counts of first-degree property damage.
Victoria Voiles, 32, of Kokomo, Indiana, was charged with resisting arrest and driving while revoked, a misdemeanor. Both people are being held at the Callaway County Jail without bond. Both people were also charged with being a fugitive from out of state. A hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Friday at the Callaway County Courthouse.
Court documents say the two had warrants for their arrest out of Indiana for their alleged involvement in a 2012 robbery where a victim was shot in the head. They were both convicted in a robbery where a convenience store clerk was shot to death in Howard County, Indiana.
Prison records show Christopher Voiles got a 13-year sentence in May 2019, but was eligible for release after three-and-a-half years. Victoria Voiles went to prison for aiding a robbery and got 10 years in prison, but was eligible for release in July 2022.
ABC 17 News reached out to Indiana state officials when they were released and what led to their sentences being revoked.
Both were also suspects in an alleged church burglary in southern Missouri, court documents say.
According to the probable cause statement, deputies saw the two in a green Chevrolet Colorado with Indiana license plates on Highway 54 near Route BB. A Callaway County deputy and Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper had tried to do a traffic stop, the statement says.
Victoria Voiles initially pulled over and law enforcement told the pair to get out of the vehicle, court documents say. The two then switched seats and sped away at 120 miles per hour at points in the chase, the statement says.
While driving in Fulton, the vehicle was allegedly going so fast that Christopher Voiles could not properly make a turn and crashed into a Toyota on State Street, the statement says. Christopher Voiles then drove away from law enforcement again before crashing into a trooper’s vehicle near the intersection with East 9th and Bluff streets.
