Two misdemeanor charges filed against brother of Michael Porter Jr.
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A pair of charges have been filed against the brother of Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr.
Jevon Porter, 20, of Columbia, was arrested in April on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. He was charged in Boone County on Tuesday with DWI and exceeding the posted speed limit by 26 miles per hour, both misdemeanors. An initial court appearance was set for Tuesday afternoon. An entry of appearance was filed, which included a not-guilty plea from Porter.
Porter is currently listed on the men’s basketball roster at Loyola Marymount University, according to the school’s athletics website. Before transferring to Loyola Marymount, the Father Tolton graduate played two seasons at Pepperdine University.
According to a probable cause statement filed by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, an SUV was heading east on Route WW while going 76 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone. A trooper activated his sirens and the driver pulled over. Porter was not able to give the trooper a driver’s license or proof of insurance, according to court documents. The trooper allegedly smelled alcohol and Porter’s eyes were bloodshot and glossy, the statement says.
Porter eventually agreed to a breath test and his blood alcohol concentration was .162, court documents say. He was then brought to the jail and was released, the statement says.
