COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Columbia man has been accused of domestic assault and other felonies after court documents say he repeatedly abused a woman.

Rico Lamar Robinson, 36, was charged with first-degree domestic assault, two counts of second-degree domestic assault, armed criminal action, illegal gun possession and unlawful use of a weapon. He is being held at the Boone County Jail without bond. A court date has not been set.

According to one of the probable cause statements filed in the case, police were called on May 6 for a reported assault on May 4. The victim allegedly told law enforcement that Robinson had hit her with the head of a butcher knife and cut her arm following an argument, court documents say. The victim allegedly told law enforcement that she thought she was going to be killed. Law enforcement saw a cut on the victim.

In a second probable cause statement, the victim had stated they were assaulted again on May 14. Robinson allegedly asked for money and then beat the victim until she was unconscious when she said she didn’t have any money, the probable cause statement says. She told police that Robinson hit her in the head with a gun and put the gun in her mouth before pointing it at her head, court documents say.

Robinson allegedly threatened to kill the victim and himself.

The victim went to Boone Hospital for treatment and x-rays allegedly showed she had a broken wrist and several broken ribs, the probable cause statement says.
