A woman was charged on Wednesday after she was accused of assaulting a shelter employee on Tuesday.

Yolanda Blakey, 38, was charged with first-degree assault. Casenet describes her as a Columbia resident, but her address is listed as “unknown.” She is being held at the Boone County Jail without bond.

An initial court appearance was held Thursday. Court documents state Blakey has a warrant for her arrest from New Boston County, Texas.

The heavily redacted probable cause statement says police were called at 1:39 p.m. Tuesday after Blakey allegedly pushed the victim down a flight of stairs and repeatedly punched her in the face.

The statement claims the attack was unprovoked. The location of the alleged attack was redacted in court documents.
