Man charged with domestic assault after allegedly stabbing man in Warsaw Dollar General parking lot

A Warsaw man was charged after he was accused of stabbing his old roommate on Saturday at in the parking lot of a Dollar General in the 14000 block of Highway 7.

David Charles Medding, 58, was charged with first-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action. He is being held at the Benton County Jail on a $150,000 bond, according to jail records.

According to previous reporting, the Benton County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a social media post that Medding stabbed the victim while they were sitting the passenger seat of a vehicle. According to the probable cause statement, a witness drove with the victim to the Dollar General and went inside the store while the stabbing occurred.

Law enforcement saw large droplets of blood on the asphalt in front of the store, the statement says. The victim was able to identify Meddings, the statement says.

Meddings was interviewed by law enforcement and stated he didn’t leave his house that day, the statement says.

Law enforcement reviewed surveillance footage that allegedly showed Meddings leaving his subdivision in a vehicle he stated belonged to him about 10 minutes before the stabbing occurred and returned a few minutes later, the statement says. Meddings lives fewer than four miles to the store, the statement says.
