Man charged with three felonies after Sedalia shooting

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Prosecutors charged a Sedalia man with three felonies after police found a woman shot in a front yard early Tuesday.

Bear Hagston of Sedalia was charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon after the shooting that saw a woman flown to a hospital with a gunshot wound.

A probable cause statement says Hagston shot a woman in the neck but she was partially conscious when police arrived at the scene in the 400 block of North Prospect Avenue at about 1 a.m. A witness told investigators that Hagston and the victim had been fighting in their front yard before the shooting.

The witness saw Hagston run after the shooting and police found a partially loaded pistol magazine at the scene, the statement says.

It wasn't clear whether Hagston was in custody Tuesday afternoon. A no-bond warrant was out for his arrest.
