BELLE, Mo. (KMIZ)

An Independence man was charged on Wednesday after he was accused of leading deputies on a chase and breaking into a house on March 13.

Travis Bellomy II was charged with first-degree burglary, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, second-degree assault, resisting arrest and illegal gun possession. A warrant was issued for his arrest on Wednesday. A court date has not been set.

According to the probable cause statement, Bellomy was being chased by Belle police on March 13 and ran away from his truck after it was found in a ditch on West 12th Street. A man then called emergency services at a location about 800 feet away from the truck and gave a descrption of a man who matched Bellomy’s, the statement says. The man told emergency services that a man broke into his residence and tried to steal a gun, the statement says.

Bellomy allegedly went to a locked gun cabinet and took a loaded rifle while he was intoxicated, the statement says. The man who lived in the home allegedly told Bellomy that he “didn’t want any trouble” and Bellomy allegedly pointed the gun at the man, the statement says.

When Bellomy pointed the gun at the man, the man replied – according to the probable cause statement  -- “use it or get out of my house.” The man was able to get the gun back and Bellomy ran away, the statement says.

Law enforcement used a K-9 to track Bellomy, who was found across the street from Capital Energy in Belle, the statement says. Bellomy still tried to run away, but a deputy used a Taser, court documents say. Bellomy still allegedly tried to resist and it took four deputies to place him in handcuffs.
