COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMZ)
Authorities have identified the man killed in a Sunday night shooting in Osage Beach.
David C. Davis, 22, of Eldon, Missouri, died at a hospital after being shot in the 1000 block Passover Road at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday, the Osage Beach Police Department said in multiple emails.
First-degree murder and armed criminal action charges were filed Monday against Fernando Z. Hutchinson, 19, of Osage Beach. Investigators claim Hutchinson shot Davis while Hutchinson was trying to steal marijuana.
The documents don't state that Davis had drugs on him.
Hutchinson lives in an apartment in the area and ran back there after the shooting, police say. Davis and another man who was in a car with him chased Hutchinson after Hutchinson snatched something from their car, police say. Hutchinson shot Davis in the chest as they ran in the area of Kay Lynn Resort, police say.
Investigators found a handgun in Hutchinson's apartment, according to the release.
Hutchinson was jailed Tuesday without bond in Camden County. His initial court appearance was set for Tuesday morning.
