Prosecutors file first-degree murder charge in Osage Beach shooting
OSAGE BEACH, Mo. (KMIZ)
Camden County prosecutors on Monday charged a man with first-degree murder after a shooting victim succumbed to their injuries.
Fernando Z. Hutchinson was charged after a late-Sunday shooting in Osage Beach that killed a victim who police have not identified. A probable cause statement says investigators used surveillance to trace Hutchinson to an apartment where witnesses told them he might have been doing a marijuana deal.
According to the City of Osage Beach, the incident happened just after 8:30 p.m. Officers were dispatched to the area of 1075 Passover Road for a disturbance in progress and a shots fired call.
Upon arrival, officers found one person suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. The person was treated at the scene and was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
Several people were detained at the scene, and taken to the Osage Beach Police Department for interviews, according to the City.
Police arrested and questioned Hutchinson, who the probable cause statement says was wearing a shirt with the words "active shooter" printed on it. The person seen in surveillance video believed to be Hutchinson was wearing the same color of hoodie that witnesses said Hutchinson was wearing after the shooting, the statement says.
Details about Hutchinson's bond and hearing date were not available late Monday afternoon.
