School janitor, sex offender charged with child sex crimes have hearing next month in Pulaski County

WAYNESVILLE, Mo. (KMIZ)

Two men who were charged with child sex crimes in Pulaski County last week have bond review hearings scheduled for next month.

Patrick Dunn, of St. Robert  – who is described in the probable cause statement as a custodian at Waynesville High School – was charged with second-degree statutory sodomy and having sexual contact with a student. Alexander Doyle, 27 – who is a registered sex offender – was charged with second-degree statutory sodomy and sexually exploiting a minor child.

Both men had hearings on Wednesday and filed motions to reduce their bonds, which are currently set at $250,000. A bond review hearing is set for 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 10. Court records indicate that Doyle pleaded not guilty on Wednesday.

According to the probable cause statement, a man on March 18 arrived at the lobby of the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department to report a sexual assault. The man stated he received a call from the Department of Social Services Children’s Division and another from Waynesville High School, stating they each received an anonymous tip his child “having sexual contact” with two men, court documents say.

The man asked his child, who initially denied the assaults occurring, but they eventually handed him a hand-written note describing multiple assaults, the statement says. The man allegedly told law enforcement that he went through his child’s phone and found a text message from a contact titled “Predator” that stated “I am cleaning your school,” the probable cause statement says.

The man allegedly recognized the number belonging to Dunn because Dunn used to be one of his employees, the statement says. The man also told law enforcement that there was a contact named “Alec,” in reference to Doyle, the statement says. The victim – in their note – allegedly stated they had evidence of an assault from Doyle occurring, court documents say.

The father gave the phone to law enforcement, who downloaded data and performed a search of phone numbers. Dunn allegedly owns a business called “Dunn Pro Custom Cleaning” and his phone number was matched with the number listed under the “Predator” contact, the statement says. It also states he was “also employed by the Waynesville School District as a custodian.” Law enforcement was also able to match Doyle’s number with a contact in the phone, the statement says.

The Waynesville School District said in a statement that it is cooperating with investigators and that school officials are limited in what they can say by confidentiality laws.

"Because it is a personnel matter and involves a legal investigation, the district is very limited in what it can say," the district said in a statement. "The district understands that the public may have specific questions that we cannot answer; however, law enforcement officials may be able to discuss issues because they are not bound by the same privacy laws.

"The Waynesville R-VI School District has fulfilled all of its reporting duties, including to law enforcement, and is fully cooperating with police officials. No reports of wrong-doing have been reported to the district while the individual was performing their duties for the district. As with all employees, a background check was conducted prior to being hired."

Dunn was on the district payroll until Feb. 27 and contracted with the district as a substitute custodian through March 15.

Law enforcement was able to find text messages with the victim and Doyle and Dunn that allegedly revealed sexual contact occurring between the men and the victim, the statement says. Law enforcement also found videos on the phone that included Doyle, the statement says.

The videos had a timestamp listed on Jan. 14 and messages from the victim to another person detailing an assault, the statement says. The other person allegedly sent a screenshot of an application called “Life360,” which is a location-sharing smartphone application. Law enforcement then were able to see a screenshot with the victim’s location, which was Doyle’s apartment complex, the statement says.
