Man charged in Wednesday Volunteer Drive shots-fired scene
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Columbia man has been charged in one of the shooting scenes that took place in Columbia on Wednesday.
Anthony Warren Jr., 20, was charged on Thursday with shooting at or from a motor vehicle and armed criminal action. He is not in custody. A warrant was ordered for his arrest on Thursday and no bond was set. A court date has not been scheduled.
The Boone County Prosecutor's Office confirmed to ABC 17 News that Warren is accused in the call near the 5400 block of Volunteer Drive that occurred Wednesday.
A heavily redacted probable cause statement says Warren fired five shots from a handgun in a residential subdivision. The address of where the shots were fired was redacted in the probable cause statement. The statement says Warren shot at a vehicle across a street.
Neighbors had told ABC 17 News on Wednesday that they heard shots ring out, as well as roughly 10 people yelling before two women started fighting. . A CPD spokesperson said on Wednesday that a woman had injuries, but not from gunfire.
Neighbors claim one woman was screaming at another woman, who was across the street. One of the women was allegedly heard by neighbors saying “you need to get out of here” to a man. Residents claim that man then got into a vehicle with a woman and drove away. The woman later returned without the man and ran inside a home, neighbors claim.
