Sedalia man accused of stealing real estate, thousands of dollars from elderly woman

SEDALIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Sedalia man was arrested on Monday for allegedly taking thousands of dollars and a home from an elderly woman who has Alzheimer’s.

Brian Vinson was charged with financially exploiting an elderly person. He is being held at the Pettis County Jail on a $1 million bond, according to a social media post from the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office. A court date has not been set.

The probable cause statement says the estimated loss from the victim is $779,830.

According to the probable cause statement and the post, a family member filed a report on May 9, 2023, stating that large sums of money were taken from the woman’s account. On April 5, 2023, Vinson allegedly transferred $400,000 from the victim’s bank account into his own account, the probable cause statement says.

The statement says that on April 18, 2023, Vinson transferred the ownership of her real estate in Pettis County by having her sign a Quit Claim Deed.
