Missouri man sentenced for role in Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Raytown man was sentenced to nearly seven years in prison for assaulting law enforcement during the Jan. 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol riots, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Christopher Brian Roe, 39, of Raytown, Missouri, was sentenced to 70 months in prison, along with two years of supervised release, the release states. He is also and ordered to pay $2,000 in restitution. Roe pleaded guilty in November to three felony counts of assaulting, resisting and impeding certain officers, according to the release and reporting from The Associated Press.
The release states that Roe assaulted three separate law enforcement officers on Jan. 6, 2021, at the “Stop The Steal” rally. He was arrested on July 18, 2023, in Missouri.
The release states that in the 37 months since Jan. 6, 2021, more than 1,313 people have been charged with various felonies in nearly every state. The release says 469 of those people have been charged with assaulting or impeding law enforcement.
