Jefferson City teenager charged as adult in August shooting case

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Jefferson City teenager has been charged as an adult in relation to an Aug. 8 shooting.

Da’Shawn Johnson, 17, was charged with two counts of unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action, resisting arrest, two counts of misdemeanor property damage and an infraction of second-degree trespassing.

Court documents state Johnson is in custody and no bond is set. An arraignment is set for 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Cole County Circuit Court.

According to the probable cause statement, Jefferson City police responded to a call about a weapons offense in the 200 block of Buchanan Street. The statement says multiple people ran to Ellis Porter Park before police arrived, but were eventually found by police.

The statement says police saw video recordings obtained from doorbell cameras that showed Johnson firing a gun multiple times. Eight shell casings were found in the 200 block of Buchanan Street and a vehicle that contained one person and an occupied house were hit with bullets, according to the probable cause statement.
