Moberly man charged with killing man in drunken Howard County crash
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Prosecutors have charged a man accused of driving drunk last week in a Howard County crash that killed a St. Louis man.
David S. Brown was charged Thursday with DWI causing death, a felony, and two misdemeanors -- driving on the wrong side of the road and driving without a license. An initial arraignment is set for Tuesday.
The crash last Saturday on Highway 124 near County Road 409 happened at about 2:30 a.m. The trooper who was called to the scene found powerlines across the road and a Honda CRV on its top, according to a probable cause statement.
Joshua McNabb, 39, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was a passenger in the vehicle, which lost control on a curve, went off the road and overturned in a ditch.
Brown smelled like liquor and refused to cooperate with investigators, according to the statement. He was unable to follow directors for a breath-alcohol test, the trooper wrote.
Brown also lost balance and almost fell while speaking with troopers, the statement says.
He remained in the Howard County Jail on Friday on $50,000 bond.
