JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Fulton man was charged Friday with leading police on a chase in Jefferson City.

Justin W. Thurston faces two felonies -- resisting arrest by fleeing and driving without a valid license -- after a Thursday afternoon chase that started near Adams Street and East High Street.

Police tried to pull Thurston over after recognizing that he had warrants out for his arrest, according to a probable cause statement. The vehicle turned onto Capitol Street, cutting other vehicles off, the statement says.

The chase continued in the Amtrak station parking lot and around the Capitol before Thurston's vehicle eventually stopped on eastbound Highway 94, police say. A woman inside the vehicle allegedly told police that Thursday planned to drive to Callaway County and run into the woods to get away from police.

Thurston was already wanted on a probation and parole warrant, the probable cause statement says.

He was in the Cole County Jail on Friday with no bond.
