According to the probable cause statement for the chase, a deputy was following a gray Honda Pilot – heading eastbound on Interstate 70 near exit 148 -- that was reported stolen on Friday night in Columbia. The Honda exited the interstate without using a signal and tried to switch turn lanes, also while not using a signal, according to the statement. The deputy then tried to initiate a traffic stop and a chase ensued on Highway 54 and Highway 211.
Williams was eventually identified as the driver, according to the statement.
The Honda eventually crashed into a Missouri State Highway Patrol vehicle near the parking lot south of Ozarkland and caused about $1,000 worth of damage, the statement says.
The vehicle didn’t stop and eventually got back onto Highway 54 while going 110 miles per hour, the statement says. The Honda crashed into a road sign while trying to turn onto Highway 114.
Four people eventually got out of the SUV at Mac Road trailer park, the statement says. Law enforcement ran after the four and three of them were caught, according to the statement. One of those arrested was a minor.
Williams allegedly told law enforcement that he saw the Honda “in the hood” of Columbia with the keys inside and decided to take the vehicle, the statement reads. Law enforcement then learned Williams did not have a driver’s license.
