Sentence lowered to probation for man who pleaded guilty to sexual misconduct

A Jefferson City man who pleaded guilty in July to sexual misconduct involving a child has been ordered to serve five years of supervised probation.

Lucas Abbett, 29, pleaded guilty on July 14 and was sentenced to four years in the Missouri Department of Corrections. He was placed into 120 days of shock jail time while the Department of Corrections put together a report to determine if probation should be granted, according to court documents.

An order for supervised probation was ordered on Friday and the end of the shock jail time period is Friday, Dec. 22. He will serve five years of supervised probations with a suspended four-year sentence.

According to previous reporting, a witness found sexually explicit Snapchat messages and photos sent allegedly by Abbett to a 13-year-old victim in 2022. The victim had allegedly told officials about communication between the two.
