Charges filed against alleged getaway man for Columbia murder suspect
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Prosecutors have charged a Columbia man with felony counts of hindering prosecution and resisting arrest after he allegedly tried to help a suspect in a June murder escape police.
Alex Jolo Glay was charged Tuesday in Boone County. He's accused of helping Ja'Shaun Barney in trying to escape police on Nov. 2. Police say Barney was part of a shootout between two vehicles on Dove Drive on June 26 that killed Deshon Joseph Houston, 33.
Police say they saw Barney run away from them Nov. 2 in the 5000 block of Clark Lane. He allegedly then got into a vehicle and left.
A chase ensued and the vehicle was stopped with spikes on Interstate 70 near Creasy Springs Road and Business Loop 70, police say. Glay was the driver, according to court documents.
A probable cause statement says Glay told police that he knew Barney had a murder warrant and didn't want to be stopped with Barney in his car. Barney's charges include second-degree murder.
Glay posted a $3,000 bond on Nov. 6 and is set for an initial court appearance Nov. 29.
