Rolla man charged with statutory sodomy, incest in Maries County

MGN

VIENNA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Rolla man was charged on Monday in Maries County with second-degree statutory sodomy and incest.

A warrant was issued on Tuesday for Michael Kevin Kean, 65. The probable cause statement says that law enforcement spoke with a woman who said she was sexually assaulted by Kean for several years as a child. The statement specifically lists 2004 as a date, but goes on to describe multiple alleged instances that took place over several years. She was interviewed by law enforcement in September.

The statement says information had stemmed from another investigation from the FBI.

The victim allegedly told law enforcement that she had told her mother at the time and that her mother reported it to the Maries County Sheriff’s Office. The mother was interviewed by law enforcement in September and allegedly said she remembers taking her daughter to the Maries County Sheriff’s Office to file a complaint, but Kean was never questioned, according to the statement.

The mother of the victim allegedly told law enforcement that she was recently at a fair with her granddaughter and threatened Kean, if he touched the granddaughter. Kean allegedly told her not to worry about it because their son would kill him, if he did.

Kean later confirmed the details of the conversation when interviewed by law enforcement in October, the statement says.

The statement says that during the investigation, law enforcement allegedly found someone who used to babysit for Kean, who described alleged assaults by Kean when she was 16.

Kean had denied the allegations while talking with law enforcement. He allegedly said it stemmed from a custody battle between his son and daughter-in-law and claimed there was an investigation in Phelps County – that allegedly led to an FBI agent questioning him – after he sent text messages to his granddaughter. He allegedly told law enforcement that if he sent his messages to a male, nothing would have come of it.
