Man charged with three felonies after Mexico, Missouri, shooting

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A 38-year-old Mexico man was shot in the leg during a fight Sunday, police say.

The man was shot Sunday afternoon in the 200 block of South Alabama Street during a fight among people from two different houses, the Mexico Department of Public Safety said in a news release. Police say Kyle C. Parrish, 37, pulled out a gun and shot the man in the leg.

The victim suffered injuries that were not life-threatening, police say. He was taken by ambulance to University Hospital.

Police say Parrish was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault, armed criminal action and illegal gun possession and booked into the Audrain County Jail. Prosecutors charged him with each of those three counts, according to online court records.

A probable cause statement says Parrish admitted to shooting the victim, who is identified in the statement only by the initials G.F. G.F. also identified Parrish as his shooter, the document says.
