Maryland woman arrested for allegedly hitting, biting officers

Boone County Jail

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A 42-year-old Maryland woman is being held at the Boone County jail after police said she bit one officer and kicked another one, sending him to the hospital.

Rebecca Groh is facing several charges including third degree assault of a special victim, possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest, among several other charges. Groh is being held at the Boone County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

According to online court records, police were called to Drury Inn & Suites Thursday for reports of a physical disturbance with a woman screaming and threatening guests while breaking objects in the room. When officers arrived, they asked Groh to leave, however she refused.

Officers attempted to detain her when she began fighting back. During the altercation, police say she kicked one officer in the knee, causing him to collapse to the floor. According to court records, the officer was later transported to the hospital where he learned that he had a possible torn meniscus in his left knee.

Groh allegedly bit the hand of another officer during the altercation, leaving a visible mark above the right thumb.

After officers were able to arrest her, they found a pipe that tested positive for methamphetamine, as well as a baggie with methamphetamine as well.
